What to do if NetWare Disks (LUNs) can not be found - David Woodsmall

Troubleshooting DEVICES (Disk drives) are NOT found (IBM DS4000 specific) by NetWare:
If NSSMU can not find any devices (disk drives) for you to turn into LUNs, check these things:
1] Did you assign the storage LUNs to the correct HBA addresses?
2] Did you reboot or rescan for hardware changes on the NetWare host
after you assigned the storage LUNs to this NetWare host?
3] Did you remember to change the HBAs LUNS PER TARGET from 0
to 256? If it is zero, the NetWare host will never see
any data LUNs. An alternate method for setting the LUNS PER TARGET
for QLogic HBAs to to add the command line parameter /MAXLUNS=256
to the LOAD QL2X00.HAM command in STARTUP.NCF
(use the NWCONFIG utility to modify STARTUP.NCF.
4] Are you invoking LOAD QL2X00.HAM with the /LUNS /ALLPATHS /PORTNAMES
parameters? (scroll to the bottom)
4] Are the LUNs of type NETWARE FAILOVER (in IBM's DS4000 Storage Manager)?
5] Is the AVT failover bit set to AVT OFF ("zero")? There is usually a script called
something like SET AVT OFF that can be run on the controllers.
