Summary Page of Transgender Enemy Kathy Najimy

Commentary by Victoria S., May 2008

"Non-co-operation is a protest against an unwitting and unwilling participation in evil.
Non-co-operation with evil is as much a duty as co-operation with good."

I want to comment on out television personality / actor Kathy Najimy, who seems to be making a second (lucrative?) career "headlining" fund-raising galas in support of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).

Despite impassioned pleas from transgender leaders - including Robbi Cohn (former HRC Carolinas Steering Committee member, who resigned in protest following HRC's betrayal regarding ENDA), and Janice Covington Allison (Chair of TransCarolina), and other transgendered persons - to refrain from sucking at the teat of her bitch Master, the HRC, Najimy has refused to even acknowledge her critics, continuing to speak at HRC fundraisers, and other GLB(t) events.

It appears that Ms. Najimy is more concerned with shameless promotion, in addition to supporting the *sole* GLB(t) organization - the HRC - that actively jettisoned the transgendered while forcing passage of the transgender-excluding ENDA HR-3685 bill on November 07, 2007 (as summarized here)!

    Let's be blunt:

KATHY NAJIMY IS NO ALLY TO TRANSGENDERED PEOPLE.

Recently (Feb 16, 2008), Najimy headlined the HRC Carolinas Gala held at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte NC). More recently, Najimy headlined the HRC Atlanta Dinner and Silent Auction (May 03, 2008) as the guest speaker (see also this article). Two sweet gigs, at least from her - and HRC's - perspective. Meanwhile, transgender people suffer fear, discrimination, unemployment, violence and death, while these people slap themselves on the back, and carry their cash to the bank.

So, what else has the ever-present Najimy been up to? How about the Twin Cities (Minneapolis - St. Paul) 2008 HRC "It's Time" Dinner?

Here is a memorable photograph from that event:

Ms. Najimy also headlined the Twin Cities Human Rights Campaign 18th Annual Gala Dinner and Auction (Saturday, September 29, 2007) at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Moving ever onward, Ms. Najimy next appears as the Keynote speaker at the 2008 HRC Utah Gala Dinner (June 14, 2008 in Orem, UT).

By the way, check out this spiffy HRC logo, that appears on the above pages:
Not so united - HRC is NOT a member of UnitedENDA.org
    Family? Unity?

Hardly; rather, UnitedEDNA.org and *their* allied organizations (notably absent: HRC)
demonstrate true community, support, loyalty and unity.

Reaching further back, Ms. Najimy was the featured speaker (Saturday September 23, 2000) at the 2000 Dallas - Ft. Worth Black Tie Dinner, a fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign Foundation and local Gay- and Lesbian-supportive organizations, held at the Wyndham Anatole Hotel. The Black Tie Dinner was begun in Dallas in 1982 to help support the Human Rights Campaign Fund. In 1999, 3,200 attendees raised $653,581.38 for the Human Rights Campaign Foundation and local beneficiaries. ...

Ms. Najimy hasn't been limiting herself by hitching her wagon to HRC's gravy train. On December 1, 2006, the Matthew Shepard Foundation presented a Laramie Project All Star Special Reading, (at the Town Hall Theater in Times Square, New York), that featured an abridged play read by Najimy and others. [The Matthew Shepard Foundation was founded by Dennis and Judy Shepard in memory of their 21-year old son, Matthew, who was murdered in an anti-gay hate crime in Wyoming in October 1998.]

Earlier in 2006 (Saturday June 17), Ms. Najimy was a Special Guest at Arizona's Human Rights Fund (AHRF) Awards Dinner, at the Arizona Biltmore Resort.

Fast-forwarding to 2008, later this month (Sunday May 18, 2008), Ms. Najimy will be featured at Equality Texas' Spirit of Texas Brunch at Sunset Station, San Antonio, TX (see also this article).

Yes, Ms. Najimy certainly appears to be a tireless human rights activist and campaigner - except, of course, where the transgendered community is concerned. Once again,

"Non-co-operation is a protest against an unwitting and unwilling participation in evil.
Non-co-operation with evil is as much a duty as co-operation with good."
