- Handyman:

We would recommend him highly for handyman stuff about the house. He is clean, honest, and
very reasonable cost.
- Carpenter:
- Chip Mims of CBM Enterprizes, LLC email has
done a couple of jobs with excellent results and good rates.

- M&J Construction 810-0380: Chip used them as a sub and they did a good job building
our decks and screened porch.
- Painters:
- Jeff Cook at Penn-Davis Coatings 779-0271. Jeff's crew painted the top floor
of our house in a weekend including the 20ft cathederal ceilings. I painted the
lower half of the house in about a month. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
- Furniture/Cabinet Maker
- Alan Leland is a good friend and overly anal woodworker who
will sand and finish until the wood screams "enough". We have had him build
custom shelves and have some of his wonderful turned ornaments and a lazy
susan out of wonderful wood.
- Piano Movers:
- Best Piano Movers 571-0866,
were suggested by our friend Linda Watson. Very prompt service,
knowledgable, clean.
- Piano Tuner:
- Peter Kalnia in Raleigh. Very knowledgeable. Wasn't happy that
the piano was painted "Raspberry Zing"
- Plumber:
- Capitol City Plumbing, 919-782-7203, 4517 Gwynnebrook Cir, Raleigh, NC, 27613.
They came to install a toilet we had purchased from Lowe's. We used them again to
install a new kitchen faucet. We were impressed on both occasions with their
work and professional behavior.

Mr. Carty did a great job wiring our outside decks. He has also done a number of
smaller jobs which sat unaddressed for a while.

- Steve Lyons of Raleigh is a friend of Ron Carty's. 919-389-3415 cell.
He seems like a down to earth fellow who knows what he is doing.
- Realtor:
- Sheila Gafka of Ammons-Pittman in Raleigh. A five foot tall,
high-energy, whirlwind. Now retired to Texas to spoil her grandchildren.

used office furniture. We got three great office chairs there
for a fair price.

Gardening
- Buchanan's Nursery
- Near our house with knowledgeable staff and good plant selection.
- Hosta Hosta
- The Solbergs have a business near Hillsborough, NC which is worth
the trip. We have purchased more than our share of hostas from them.
This is a great day trip from Raleigh.
- Holly Hill Daylily Farm
- I have purchased a number of plants from them. They are open only a few
weeks a year for sales. Another fun day trip from Raleigh.
- Plants Delight Nursery
- Tony Avent's nursery located South of Raleigh. I have purchased
plants from them. They have a great selection of all kinds of plants,
especially hostas. They do a very humorous catalog which is a fun
read for a plant enthusiast.
- Dutch Gardens
- The best mail order bulb supplier I have come across. I have ordered
from them over the decades and I always get huge bulbs. Much better than
the home centers.
