COUNTDOWN TO CAMPOREE:

WOW! What a FANTASTIC weekend we had - I hope you took part in this. If you were there, please complete the survey (see below) and send it to me.

For Orange District only, the Spring, 2007 camporee will be April 27-29, 2007. The location has not yet been determined, but we are looking to keep it within Orange County. The theme will be COOKING!

The Fall 2006 Camporee will be a joint venture with both Orange and Mawat districts participating. This great event will be held October 13-15 at Camp Reeves, in Carthage, NC. Since the council will be running a Cub Scout event that month, this is a Boy Scout only event. However, Boy Scout patrols are encouraged to invite Webelos Scouts to join them.

The theme of this camporee will be ORIENTEERING. Saturday morning will consist of a series of stations where Scouts are tested on their basic map and compass skills. The afternoon will be an orienteering course, where patrols will need to locate a series of checkpoints identified on a map.

For complete information, download the Leaders' Guide and Orienteering Contest documents.

Patrols will be in competition throughout the weekend. Points will be earned based on skills during the orienteering competition and also by contributing to the camporee. Patrols and/or troops are needed for the following activities; points to be awarded are listed in the leaders' guide. Please contact Randy Bernstein to sign up to contribute.
