Myrmecodia tuberosa growing wild in Sarawak
In nature, Myrmecodia plants often grow with the tuber hanging down. These plants are growing on bare branches without much organic debris around their roots, so they would probably be dependent on ants for most of their nutrients. Photographs by Wilson H. P. Chua, Sarawak, East Malaysia ( hpchua@mardi.my).
