Myrmecodia tuberosa (New Britain)![]() Myrmecodia tuberosa is highly variable species with a range extending from peninsular Malaysia to New Guinea. This form supposedly originates on the island of New Britain, and it is consistent with the description of Myrmecodia tuberosa "dahlii" from that island (Huxley and Jebb, 1993). The plants have leaves with wavy edges and green petioles (below). Ripe fruit is a dark, reddish orange. The stem has obscure clypeoli, fairly thick spines, and lacks the narrow base of the M. tuberosa from Sabah. ![]()
