To those operating aircraft at Lake Ridge Airfield:
The following is important information about Lake Ridge Airfield. Please read this information carefully. It is important for the continued safe operations at 8NC8.
1). Pattern Altitude is 1000 AGL (1309 foot MSL) and Left Hand Traffic patternt. Please do not fly the down wind leg over the development. 6). The Field is soft following rain and whenever possible use of the field should be postponed allowing the conditions to improve .
2). 122.90 is the frequency in use at Lake Ridge Aero Park. 7). Runway 32 Downwind leg shall be flown a minimum of ½ mile off the runway centerline or further west of the Lake Ridge Development .
3). Please review your FAR/AIM and any current safety advisories on recommended arrival and departure techniques for Non Towered fields. The ½ mile down wind parallel distance (runway 32) and the 1300 feet MSL altitude are very important to ensure continued safe operations at 8NC8. If you have concerns please contact us. 8). No right hand turns until safely (suggested 1 mile, minimum ¾ mile from the departure end of the runway) out of the airport traffic area.
4). Low passes are permitted as long as no other aspects of the pattern are violated (Review items above). 9). Aerobatics in the Pattern are not permitted and are illegal.
5). Landing and departing direction should be consistent with wind direction. Alternating takeoff and landing direction should be avoided unless a traffic advisory is communicated using 122.90. State the intentions and determine that such activity will not jeopardize safe operations. Aircraft without radios should not alternate takeoff and landing direction unless required to do so in an emergency. 10).Flight over the Lake Ridge housing development is PROHIBITED.
Oil/Chemical Disposal. There is an oil disposal tank located be hind the Quonset hut. This container is for Aircraft Engine Oil only. No paint thinner, gas, or any other substances other than motor/engine oil are to be put in this container. We have no provisions for any other chemical disposal. Disposal of any other chemicals are NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE on the Airport Property. Wash Rack Usage. The wash rack located at the rear of the Quonset hut is to be used for washing Aircraft ONLY. No chemicals except soaps and mild detergents are allowed on the wash ramp. Each person is responsible for cleaning the Wash Rack when finished. PLEASE clean all mud and debris off the Wash Rack after you are finished.
Fueling Aircraft. Everyone that has a key has been briefed on how to use the fuel system. However now that the new hangars have been completed we are asking that pilots NOT pull their aircraft straight in toward the fuel tank. Instead we ask that you continue down the taxiway and turn around facing the Quonset hut perpendicular to the tank. This is to reduce the amount of Prop Blast on the aircraft in the new row of hangars. Please ask if you have any questions about this. Engine Run-Ups. Avoid doing run ups in areas near parked aircraft. Please when the engine is running ensure that prop blast is pointed away from any parked aircraft, vehicles, or persons.
Parking. Parking at the airport has become a challenge. Parking is allowed at the Quonset Hut, at the office building and at the southern most hangars. Additionally it has been agreed on that when the office building and Quonset Hut area is full over flow parking will be allowed in the grassy area in front and slightly to the left of the Quonset Hut. Please do not use this area unless both the other parking areas are full. If you have any questions or concerns please contact one of the follow persons:
