Paul, Erin & Caleb

Hello! We are Erin, Paul, and Caleb from Durham, North Carolina. We imagine that you are going through a challenging time right now and we respect your courage. We thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We hope this site gives you an insight into who we are. We look forward to getting to know you and would welcome a relationship with you and your family.

Our Extended Family

Paul and Erin were both brought up with an emphasis on family. Even when grandparents were in other states, our parents made sure they knew and spent time with us. That effort paid off: we are still close to our parents and extended families, and we value the time they spend with Caleb. We hope that your family will join our extended families in loving our children.

Grandparents
Paul’s parents moved to our area from out of state to be near Caleb and to be more involved as his Oma and Poppi. On Thursdays, Caleb spends the day with his Oma fishing, swimming and doing art projects while Erin works. Now that Caleb is getting ready to start school full time, Oma is really looking forward to having another child around her house on what we all now lovingly refer to as "Oma Day". Last Spring, cheering from the bleachers wasn’t enough for Poppi, so he helped Paul coach Caleb’s baseball team. He’s ready to teach hitting to the next member of the backyard baseball team.

Erin’s family lives in upstate New York and visits frequently. Her parents have a beautiful old house in the country purchased with grandchildren’s visits in mind. Grandpa Ed loves cooking traditional Guamanian recipes with Caleb. So far, chicken adobo is Caleb’s favorite. Grandma Cheryl introduced Caleb to sleeping in a tent and fishing last summer. She is already planning how she’ll manage two kids in a canoe. Grandpa Dan loves romping around the yard with Caleb; making snow angels in the winter and water balloon fights in the summer. He’s looking forward to having another rider when they play “horsey”.

Aunts, Uncles and Cousins
Paul's only brother lives out of state with his wife, daughter, and son. We all visit regularly. The holidays are the best when we can all be together. Erin has one sister and one brother (recently engaged) who dote on their nephew. They live in New York near their parents. We don't get to see them as often as we would all like, but we do talk to them regularly on the phone.

Erin’s grandmothers both live out of state, but have traveled to visit Caleb. They both love hearing stories about him that they can pass on to the rest of the family.
Paul’s Aunt Wendy moved to North Carolina to be near her brother, Poppi. Her husband, Uncle Paul, achieved super-hero status in Caleb’s eyes because he has a car lift and an impact wrench. Paul’s other aunt is looking forward to returning to the East coast when she retires. In the meantime, we can visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium with her.
