These two wind turbines were
erected on the northeast part of Utsira in 2004 and are a pilot project
that currently provides electricity to ten homes. Utsira is very windy. Average wind speed is 20 miles per hour! In his role as mayor, my cousin Reidar Klovning was instrumental in bringing this project to Utsira. This project was implemented by Norsk Hydro. For details on this project see: http://www.hydro.com/en/our_business/oil_energy/new_energy/hydrogen/winds_change.html |

During the building of the wind turbines they uncovered remnants (arrowheads, etc.) from a civilization that inhabited the island around 8000 BC. |

Utsira's nursing home.
When Magne and Kevin visited here on October 23rd they met a 97 year old
lady who remembered going to school with my father. Inside the nursing home is a large swimming pool. |

Boat house owned by my
grandfather. In the early 1980s it was donated to the local government and now serves as a museum exhibiting boating memorabilia from the 1950s. |
