The Move from Kalamazoo

On October 15, 2002 we started to load the Penske rental truck with our belongings. Michele is seen here bringing the dolly to the apartment patio. The dolly was a last minute suggestion by Michele...it saved the day...and our arms.
Here is Michele enjoying our last meal in our apartment...well not exactly "in" our apartment. This meal was a veggie sub from Sub Station, Michele's favorite place in Kalamazoo.
Daredevil James rode his cycle up the long and narrow aluminum loading ramp. You only get one shot...and he made it. The cycle survived the 1000 mile trip.
We crossed the Michigan/Ohio border about 4:00 pm.
We crossed the Ohio/Kentucky border at 1:00 am. Yes that is the Kentucky sign...it is hard to take a picture driving a 20 foot commercial truck in the rain!
We crossed the Kentucky/Tennesee border about 10:00 am.
We crossed the Tennesee/North Carolina border about 3:00 pm.
It is quite tricky to find a gas station where you can navigate a 20 foot truck with a 15 foot trailer!! This is somewhere in Ohio late at night.
In Arlington, NC we stopped at a truck stop.
James needed some chocolate for the road. (thanks Cindy)
This was Michele's view for nearly 1000 miles.
