Initially Licensed Teacher Program (ILT)

The Mentor Program at West Millbrook Middle School is designed to assist new teachers through the Initial Licensure Program. Weekly meetings with both your mentor and the ILT support group meetings are intended to provide resources, encouragement, and feedback to first and second year teachers. Mentors will follow the timeline set forth by the state of North Carolina and will meet weekly with their assigned mentee to help facilitate the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for teachers starting their career. Although mentor and mentee teams will decide their individual meeting days and times, attendance of scheduled group support meetings is expected to fulfill the requirements of the program and each member’s professional growth plan.
