We would like to thank you for the opportunity to share with you the ministry to which the Lord has called us. We are Stephen and Veronica Poindexter, pre-field missionaries serving with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE). We are being sent as missionaries to Togo, West Africa by our home church, Friendship Baptist Church, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Stephen has had many opportunities to go on mission trips with the Men for Missions Program at our home church. Stephen has had the opportunity to assist many missionaries and ministries in the States as well as abroad. Through these mission trips the Lord began to burden Stephen about using the talents God has given him on the mission field. That burden has grown in his heart to a greater vision and burden for the lost souls of Togo. The Holy Spirit has confirmed in Stephen’s heart the call to preach with the burden to share the Gospel with the people of Togo by teaching the Word of God. Stephen is currently attending seminary at Shepherds Theological Seminary in Cary, North Carolina.
After teaching second grade at Friendship Christian School for nine years, Veronica is now a homemaker and mommy to our children Tabitha and Luke. Prior to our marriage, Veronica was able to use her teaching abilities on the mission field in Cape town, South Africa as a summer missionary. She is looking forward to seeing how the Lord will use her in women’s and children’s ministries during pre-field ministry as well as in Togo.
Although the Lord began to burden our hearts separately about missions before we were married, we are so thankful that He brought us together and called us as a family to serve Him in Togo, West Africa. We will be serving alongside a team of ABWE missionaries. Our focus will be to evangelize the people of Togo by working as church planters in the town of Mango. Mango is a small town in northern Togo where there are currently no Bible believing churches. There is also a strong Muslim presence in this region. It will be exciting to see the Lord begin this new ministry in the northern region of Togo. We look forward to seeing new churches established and discipling new believers in the town of Mango. It is our heart’s desire to be used any way the Lord leads.
We are very thankful for the open doors the Lord is providing for the ministry He has given us. It is our prayer that the Lord will be glorified through our pre-field ministry. |
