4-30-06
- Allan Black, English
teacher extraordinaire who showed many of us another world and did the
same for 35 years at San Juan College passed
away April 26, 2006 in Farmington.
9-09-05
- There was a grand
reunion Sept. 2 - 4, 2005. See pics
here.
3-23-05
- Carl Ferre, who
many of us had a class or two with recently passed away in Farmington.
2-08-05
- The next Reunion
planning meeting will be held at Phyllis & Larry Owen's home on
Feb. 24, 2005 at 7 p.m. 5501 Mesa Del Oso.
Call for directions (326-2528) if you would like to help with planning
for the 2005 reunion.
1-16-05
- Reunion planning
meeting was held at Phyllis & Larry Owen's new home on Jan. 18,
2005. Robert McCarty, Sheryl Rogers-Ketron, Pam Trowell-Brandenbourg,
Cecil Scales, Lanna Lyon-Watson, Jan Wood-Porter, Larry Owen, Phyllis
Griffith-Owen began putting ideas in place. Date is now set for September
2 - 4, 2005 (Labor Day Weekend).
7-3-04
- We have a noteworthy
reunion coming up in about a year. Planning has begun already. Please
fill out the online
questionnaire to provide us with your thoughts about what you would
like to do this time around. You can also help us locate missing classmates.
There's a list of individuals for whom we don't have recent contact
information and a place for you to tell us anything you know about how
to reach individuals that you may have some contact with. Because of
the internet, we ought to be able to make this the largest reunion ever
(well, I suppose many of us have gotten larger, but I meant the largest
number in attendance!).
- See results of
survey here.
3-11-04
- Initial planning for the 40th Reunion began
in earnest at Phyllis & Larry Owens' home.
Mostly there was camaraderie and eating, but some serious discussion
also took place. See the persons to blame here.
Look for a questionnaire in your email box shortly. We hope to learn
what everyone would like for this seminal event before making any concrete
plans.
2-18-04
- The most recent
update notification prompted a little more news, few more pics, and
some updated email addresses in case you've tried to contact folks and
found dead addresses.
- Discussion of the
40th reunion is heating up. I frequently get questions about plans,
suggesting a real interest. There is no formal, or informally self-appointed
(i.e., masochists) committee yet. Several have expressed interest in
helping. Only those who have planned one of these know how much work
it can be, so the more help we have, the better. Phyllis Owen, Lanna
Lyon, Kathy Ice, Sue LaMar and Rob Foss (among others ... I just can't
remember more than 4 names at a time any more) have been talking about
getting started. Please contact one of us if you would like to help.
11-20-03
- To most people
in the U.S., many of whom still don't know that New Mexico is not a
foreign country, the "Chaco Plant" probably sounds like some obscure
food source in South America. Those of us from the Farmington area know
it's part of the oil & gas industry. And there are people inside. From
his western tour 4300 miles, 8 states in 2 weeks, David
Gaylor sends proof of that; this is him along
with Sue Lamar (Fincher) and Robert
(Tom) Stolworthy where the latter two work.
-
Woody Garrett
has left Durango; now lives in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
- Carolyn
Osborne (Reite) lives in Denver.

10-29-02
- A significant person
in many of our lives - Angelo Turano - passed
away at the age of 90, in Albuquerque on March 25, 2002.
5-29-02
Don Kennedy provides the following
news (?):
- Ron
Kennedy lives in Boise , Idaho with his wife of many years.
He has three married kids and is reported to be the one person from
our class who has the most money. His brother Don in Mesa, AZ is
rumored to be the one who has the most fun in our class, racing.
Additional vicious rumors: Doug Vaughn is in Albuqueque and is the
one who owes the most money, further when he gets one of the millions
paid off he drinks a bottle of fine wine. Lately he had about 4
or 5 more bottles to go, and was looking for friends to help with
the wine drinking.
(Editor's
note: It appears that
Don may have finally breathed too many exhaust fumes.)
5-20-02
- Sharon Hummer &
hubbie are currently on a 5+ year world-trip, having sold their home
in Albuquerque and given everything else to their children. Last seen
in Thailand. Headed for Australia by July, 2002.

9-07-01:
There was a "mini-reunion" among a few '65ers (as well as '64 & '66) over
the Labor Day 2001 weekend. There was great music, wonderful biking, hiking,
and incredible camaraderie. Relationships, some dormant for 36 years,
were rekindled. Take a look
here for a visual tour of that semi-spontaneous event.
8-25-01:
Look! A photo of some of our teachers when
THEY were young. How many can you identify? Thanks to Hope Coslett Pees
(class of 1956)
for this photo.
