Welcome to the Canton of NimenefeldNimenefeld is a group that is part of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) The SCA is a medieval recreation group that studies and teaches about pre-17th century Europe. Over 50,000 people all over the world, learning and teaching through a process called "living history." As of now, there are 16 kingdoms in the SCA, spread all over the world The Kingdom of Atlantia is one of those kingdoms and is made up of the states Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and a sliver of Georgia. Within the Kingdom of Atlantia, there are regional groups called baronies. The middle part of North Carolina is the Barony of Windmasters' Hill. Within the baronies are often smaller groups called cantons. Our canton is Nimenefeld and it is made up of Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, and Angier. The other cantons in our barony are Elvegast (Raleigh), Buckston-on-the-Eno (Durham), Kappellenberg (Chapel Hill), and Attillium (Fayetteville). Our group holds a business meeting on the fourth Tuesday of every month. See the Directions Page for where they are held. We hold fighters practices every Wednesday, weather permitting. See the Directions page for where they are held, and see the Fighting Arts Page for all of information concerning SCA fighting. Anything that was studied, created, manufactured, built, painted, etc anytime in the period that the SCA studies is taught by someone in the SCA. In fact you'll pretty much find experts in most of these subjects here in Windmasters' Hill. To read more, see the Art & Sciences Page. After you have been around for awhile, you notice that we call each other by "different" names and you may see us displaying coats of arms. Well that is heraldry and to learn more about it see the Heraldry Page. Again after you have been around, you'll notice that we dress funny. Well we take personas that represent people who could have lived in our period of study. Part of the living history study is that we dress as our persona would have done in period. There is more about garb on the Arts & Sciences page, and the Newcomers Page.
