June 30:
Amelia's and Santa Fe's kittens were born
on May 10 - two boys and a girl. The delivery went fine but sadly,
Amelia contracted metritis and had to be spayed the following day.
The kittens got their first vaccinations
this week. Mom & babies are all doing well.
May 2007: Sweet little Gypsy Rose went to her new
home yesterday. We are all missing her, but are very happy for her
to be placed in her new forever home in upstate New York. She and
another Maine Coon kitten are going to live with two wonderful girls and
their Great Pyrenees dog.
Gandalf became
a Grand Premier at the Richmond, VA show in late April. Way to go,
Gandalf!
Ownership of Tabbyskins Santa Fe
returned to Willowplace recently. Thanks to Barbara Ray for
placing your trust in us.
March 2007:
Three more significant activities occurred in March. First, Carmel
found a new home (with her littermate, Lord Thor, in Charlotte).
Thanks to Joan and Mike for opening your hearts and home to her.
She's now called Her Ladyship and is happily living up to her name!
Amelia was
bred to Tabbyskins Santa Fe in early March.
Kittens are expected in mid-May (see Kittens page
for more info on adopting a Dukehaven kitten).
We
welcomed a new kitten, SmokeyCoons Giada of Dukehaven, out of RW, SGC (TICA) & GC,
RW (CFA)
SmokeyCoons Alejandro and CH Wistariantale
Amore of SmokeyCoons. We are honored and grateful to Elaine and
Fred Weitz,
SmokeyCoons, for entrusting Giada to us, and look forward to her show and
breeding career at Dukehaven.
Jan 2007: We decided to spay two of
our breeding cats, Duchess and Carmel. Duchess is our first Maine
Coon.
Nov 2006: After almost a year(!) our
website has been updated. What can I say, except we've been busy
(see news below) and haven't had kittens available anyway, so other
tasks took priority. The website has been revamped, with a page
about each Dukehaven cat - pictures, a description, and health
information.
Spring and Summer 2006: I contributed to
the health articles for the Scratch Sheet,
MCBFA's newsletter.
I edited the first article, which was about FIP, and wrote the second on
vaccination protocols. (You can get current and back issues of the
Scratch Sheet when you join MCBFA. The Scratch Sheet has
lots of stories, pictures, news, and health topics about Maine Coon
cats.)
May 2006: Good and sad news - Duchess
delivered 3 kittens, but only one survived. Duchess lost most of
her milk a few days later. Especially after hand feeding this
baby, we're thrilled she turned out so nice, both in type and
personality. We're pleased to introduce our newest female,
Dukehaven Artemis, into our breeding program.
April - May 2006: The unfinished space
above our garage and shop was made into a cattery. Many thanks to
Chris Moder, contractor, for an excellent job (and on time too!).

March 2006: Rocquoone Amelia became a
Dukehaven cat. And what a cat she is! Many thanks to Traci
Jones for this lovely and engaging girl.
Nov 2005: Two of the
kittens from our Aug 05 litter went to their new homes before
Thanksgiving. We are keeping Carmel Fudge Sundae for
our breeding program.
Our big news is that Tabbyskins Santa Fe
of Willowplace became a Dukehaven cat in mid-November. Thanks,
Barbara Ray, for your faith in us with this beautiful, sweet boy - what
a wonderful outcross. He's sired some wonderful kittens with
Duchess and we look forward to more litters from them in future.
Oct 2005: Duchess had 3
kittens, 2 classic torbie girls and a mackerel boy on Aug 24, 2005.
The proud dad is
Tabbyskins Santa Fe of
Willowplace (thanks again to Barbara
Ray).
April 2005: Sad news, Tatiana had a failed
pregnancy and no kittens resulted. We have reluctantly decided to
spay her and she is recovering well. We plan to breed Duchess
again in the next few months.
Aug 2004: Dukehaven Gandalf became a champion
at his first show as an adult.
We hope you
enjoy our website! We'd love to hear from you if you have an
interest in Maine Coons and have a comment or question.
