    FREEDOM

One of the ominous implications of Post-Intellectualism is the threat we pose to our personal freedoms by our use of our media systems.  Plato warned that, the excess of liberty seems only to pass into excess of slavery.  And George Orwell's Big Brother proclaimed, Freedom is Slavery.  Indeed, it is the abuse of freedom, as exemplified by our commercial media, that leads ultimately to a form of voluntary slavery.

Democracy is collective decision-making.  And it will work only as long as we are committed to making responsible decisions in our cultural problem-solving efforts.  But as post-intellectual citizens and consumers, we are not making responsible decisions regarding our use of the media.  We are not solving our cultural problems.  We experience the Progress Paradox.
